Termanology released his first album “Hood Politics” in 2003. His latest, Time Is Currency, was released last week and marks his 50th effort (yes, 50th).
Featuring work from his frequent collaborators Paul Wall, Kool G Rap, Ras Kass and Kota The Friend, the 15-song album is a testament to his unwavering work ethic and commitment to culture. But it also marks an important milestone for Term.
“I carefully planned this particular project because I knew it would be my 50th project,” Termanology tells AllHipHop. “It’s very well structured, and I said that specifically at the beginning of the album. “My album number is 5-0, and I made the album with my eyes closed. “
“One of my favorite things about this project is the cover art. The cover was handmade in pencil by an artist named Jason McKenzie, who submitted the painting to me. That’s exactly what I wanted for the cover Imagine. My good friend and long-time collaborator Deezy took it and made it a reality. “Time Is Currency” is definitely one of my favorite covers.
Produced entirely by Nastee, the album is imbued with Term’s signature boom bap flavor, accentuated by endless clever rhyme schemes and infectious melodies. One of his latest films, “Uptown Fly,” starring new Term signees Nim K and Lord Sko, is unmistakably East Coast, filled with shots of historic bridges and graffitied walls.
The YouTube clip has received over 1 million views since its release, making it clear that people are still hungry for real hip-hop, not the watered-down version that’s been fed to the masses. Not to mention, “Time Is Currency” ranked No. 1 on the iTunes US Hip-Hop/Rap Album Chart upon its release. Termanology shared the news on his Instagram, writing simply: “Thank you.”
Term has a lot to be grateful for over the decades. His two albums with Paul Wall, “Start 2 Finish” (2022) and “Start Finish, Repeat” (2023), both exceeded the million streams mark on Spotify. And, like fine wine, it gets better and better with age. Find the album here and keep scrolling to see his entire discography. All physical copies (CD/Vinyl) and downloads are available via Bandcamp.
