Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Burger opened a new location in California over the weekend, and stars like Snoop Dogg, YG, Stevie Wonder and more were on hand to celebrate the event.
On Sunday (March 1), Nipsey’s brother Blacc Sam hosted the opening of the fourth Marathon Burger in Long Beach, California. Hundreds of fans attended the grand opening, which was a star-studded event.
Snoop Dogg, a Long Beach native and investor in the store, showed up and helped hand out food to the many customers who came to check out the brand new restaurant. YG and radio host Big Boy were also in the building. The two bought 120 burgers and gave them to customers. Music icon Stevie Wonder stopped by to check out the ticket prices.
The opening of the Long Beach location marks one year since Marathon Burger opened its first location on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.
The successful opening ceremony was briefly interrupted by a shooting nearby that left three people injured and one dead. Nipsey Hussle’s team released the following to XXL regarding the Marathon Burger Long Beach opening and the shooting.
“With overwhelming support from the community, the opening has been a huge success,” the statement read. “The reported incident has nothing to do with our event, which continues. The opening itself occurred safely and without any issues. The restaurant remains open and customers continue to come and go excitedly.”
The grand opening follows another large event held after Nipsey’s death. On February 28, the intersection of Crenshaw Avenue and Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles was named Nipsey Hussle Plaza in his honor.
