SZA had a roller coaster ride on Friday. She delayed the release of LANA (SOS Deluxe) at the last minute. She released the album about 12 hours later than expected, but it was worth the wait. The new deluxe edition contains the entire album’s worth of material, including a featurette from Kendrick Lamar. That’s enough to satisfy any die-hard SZA fan. The most exciting part of the singer’s debut, however, is that she’s not done yet. The night she went offline, she claimed on Twitter that she would prepare more music in 2024.
After it took SZA two years to drop LANA (SOS Deluxe), the idea of new music might come as a surprise, but that’s exactly what the singer is promising. She told fans a “new treat” was coming, adding that TDE label boss Punch had given her the green light. “Punch allowed to purge and delete all songs,” SZA wrote in another tweet. “More is on the way.” You won’t be judged for thinking SZA is just hyping new material and won’t really drop it until the end of the year . We’ve seen this before, and in the case of Playboi Carti, we’re still going to see it now. But SZA provided more information about the upcoming song.
SZA will drop again on Christmas or New Year’s Eve
SZA posted a screenshot of a text message conversation between her and Punch. “The King was kind enough to finally clear this up for me,” she wrote on Twitter. “Yes, I was secretly praying for more than just this and everyone said thank you.” The singer does appear to be pushing for more The advent of many songs. The screenshot shows SZA referencing specific songs by name. She asked Punch if she could drop songs called “PSA,” “Take You Down” and “Open Arms.” TDE bosses responded with a slight delay. He told the singer to wait another week or so before falling.
“I think we should keep this breathing going for at least a week,” Punch asserted. “Give it to them for New Year or Christmas.” During the launch of LANA (SOS Deluxe), Punch had quite a lot of communication with SZA and fans. He claimed it was his fault that the album was delayed for half a day. However, he did make a joke about SZA after she posted a screenshot of the text. Punch quote tweeted the singer: “Okay. Someone took her phone.”
