Snoop Dogg has postponed the opening of its Long Beach cannabis store and rescheduled SWED’s grand opening due to safety concerns.
Snoop Dogg is putting a pause on his Long Beach homecoming, delaying the grand opening of SWED Marijuana Dispensary due to safety concerns ahead of the ribbon cutting on Saturday, May 9.
The store at 2115 East 10th Street was supposed to be a big celebration, complete with city announcements, and early fans would walk away with goodie bags and tickets to his show in June at the Long Beach Amphitheater.
Instead, the team decided to put the brakes on and get everything locked properly.

Due to anticipated attendance exceeding safe capacity, we have decided to postpone to ensure we are safely delivering the experience the community deserves in the right way. We will work closely with the City of Long Beach to create a better event. “This energy is real and we’re taking the time to match it,” the company said in a statement. “New dates will be announced soon.” Stay tuned. “
This move suggests they’re in no rush at the moment, especially since this is his second cannabis dispensary to open in Los Angeles, following the opening at Los Angeles International Airport in July 2024.
The Long Beach store honors his roots, with items on display ranging from a futuristic hologram of Snoopy himself to early memorabilia to Hood Rich Lowrider references directly tied to the culture that shaped him.
The rapper was vocal about how much the opening meant to him personally.
“Long Beach made me who I am,” Snoop explained. “Opening SWED in Long Beach is my way of showing love to the community that has shown love to me. We are creating jobs, opportunity and a space that celebrates culture.”
This isn’t just business talk, either. He’s been building his cannabis empire while staying connected to the community that raised him, and this store embodies that commitment on a whole different level.
The delay will not change the significance of this site to Long Beach’s economy and culture.
Snoopy’s cannabis ventures have become an important part of his business portfolio, and this flagship store in his hometown is an even bigger deal.
The team’s decision to hold off shows they are taking safety seriously, which is a smart thing to do when you’re dealing with a high-profile vacancy in a major market.
