The latest album may see Russ return to his signature heartbreaking rap melodies. The song, titled “Hell,” is an emotional attempt at missing out on a potential relationship and wishing the other person would call.
The verses are filled with introspection and smart writing, moving from rap to melodic parts with ease, just as Russ perfected on “Losin’ Control.” However, his skills are more refined than ever. Additionally, his decision to continually produce minimalist artwork with relevant logos set the stage for good branding, while putting all the focus on letting the music speak for itself.
Russ took the scene by storm last year with his sixth studio album, W!LD , and has also made a huge splash as a writer. The ability to maintain consistency in quality and quantity across numerous commitments puts Lars as a multi-disciplinary creative in a unique league.
Russ has also held intimate listening sessions with fans to preview new music, and recently hosted a listening party in New York. There’s probably going to be more of this coming soon, so if you’re a fan, this is worth keeping an eye on too.
