Jack Long got the comeuppance he deserved after he tried to hide from hundreds of activists in Minneapolis during a deplorable anti-Islam rally.
The rioter who was pardoned by Trump on January 6 thought he could roll off to Minnesota and spread his hatred with no consequences.
On Saturday, Long organized what he called an “anti-fraud” march near Minneapolis City Hall. The real agenda is clear – it is direct anti-Somali and anti-Islamic propaganda disguised as support for ICE operations.
Only about 10 people showed up to support his racist demonstration. Meanwhile, hundreds of counterprotesters poured into downtown Minneapolis, holding signs demanding ICE agents leave their city. They didn’t take any of Long’s crap.
The crowd quickly surrounded his small group and began chanting in response to his speech. Within an hour, Long and his supporters fled the scene.
Counter-protesters chased them into a nearby hotel lobby, where they had to hide. There were a few scuffles during the chaos, but nothing too serious.
Long later posted on X, claiming someone stabbed him during the confrontation. He said his protective vest prevented the attack, but Minneapolis police told Reuters they had received no official reports of any stabbings.
There have also been no complaints from victims about injuries caused by the protests. The entire situation shows that Minneapolis residents are tired of the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration crackdown.
Federal agents have been terrorizing immigrant communities in the Twin Cities since December, deploying more than 2,000 ICE and Border Patrol agents. Things turned violent when an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and mother of three.
A week later, another federal officer shot and killed a Venezuelan immigrant. The community has been protesting every day since the shooting.
Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump has been targeting Minnesota’s Somali community with particularly racist language.
He called the community “trash” and repeatedly spread false narratives about welfare fraud to justify sending thousands of federal agents into the state.
The protests grew increasingly violent, with demonstrators throwing snowballs and water balloons at federal vehicles. They have been blocking ICE operations and documenting aggressive tactics targeting immigrant families.
Despite threats from the Trump administration, local activists are not backing down.
Gov. Tim Walz mobilized the Minnesota Guard to support peaceful protesters’ right to assemble. About 1,500 soldiers are currently on standby to prevent the situation from escalating further.
The State Guard said they are “ready to go” but have not yet deployed. On Friday, a federal judge stepped in to issue a preliminary injunction limiting ICE agents’ tactics against peaceful protesters.
The ruling prohibits immigration officials from detaining, using tear gas or retaliating against people simply observing their actions or peacefully protesting.
The Justice Department has reportedly launched a criminal investigation into Governor Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. They were targeted for making public statements that allegedly impeded federal law enforcement operations.
Both officials refused to be intimidated by these tactics.
