Chance the Rapper brought holiday cheer and two-wheeled freedom to Chicago kids on Monday (December 16) by giving away 100 bikes during a holiday event at Raising Cane’s in Ridge, Chicago.
The Grammy winner teamed up with his nonprofit SocialWorks and the fast-food chain to distribute custom bikes and helmets to local children, who also received meals and enjoyed live caroling while testing new rides in the parking lot.
“It’s a quintessential childhood gift, like everyone remembers their first bike,” Chance told the Chicago Sun-Times. “My dad taught me how to ride a bike, which was important. It was like going to driving school, and he was very focused on making me understand it and not give up.”
The giveaway is part of a larger effort by Raising Cane’s, which has donated a total of 200 bikes, double last year’s donation. Half of them were distributed on Monday, and the other 100 were distributed two days ago at warming centers near Green Line CTA stations.

Chance, a proud Chicagoan, emphasized the importance of bicycles as a symbol of independence for young people.
“Once you get a bike, it’s like you reach a new level of independence and being able to make decisions like a child about where you’re going, like transportation,” he said.
When asked what he wanted for Christmas, Chance said without hesitation: “I want peace, tranquility, democracy and the recognition of all countries and their people.”
Founded in 2016, SocialWorks is dedicated to empowering Chicago youth through education, arts and civic engagement. Over the years, the organization has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into local schools and community projects.
The bike giveaway comes during a busy December for Chance, who also lends his voice to the Chicago Transit Authority’s “Enjoy the Ride” campaign. Now passengers across the city can hear his announcements echoing through train stations.
Next, he is scheduled to co-host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on Dec. 31. This New Year’s show follows the release of his second studio album “Star Line” in August 2025.
