A woman who accuses hip-hop icons JAY-Z and Diddy of sexual assault in a newly filed lawsuit is speaking out.
She said in a new report published by NBC News that the alleged incident was a “catastrophic event” that occurred more than two decades ago.
The Alabama woman, Jane Doe, claimed the incident happened when she was 13, but she now admits her story differs. The discrepancies have been widely reported and are the source of a sexual assault lawsuit that names Sean “Deedee” Combs and Sean “JAY-Z” Carter as the assailants.
In the NBC interview, Jane Doe described a night that allegedly involved limousine rides, mystery drinks and a traumatic attack. While she admitted there were errors in her recollection, she insisted her overall account was correct. “You should always defend yourself,” she said, but added, “I made some mistakes.”
The complainant initially claimed her father picked her up after the alleged assault, but he disputed that timeline.
She also said she met a celebrity at an afterparty, but the celebrity later denied being in New York at the time. Additionally, photos from the night show JAY-Z and Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, in a different location than where the woman claims the attack took place.
JAY-Z fired back via the Roc Nation Instagram account.
“Today’s investigative report proves that ‘attorney’ Buzbee made false accusations against me in pursuit of money and fame. It didn’t happen, but he filed suit in court and redoubled his efforts in the media. Really Justice is coming. We fight to win, not to win. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but it will soon.
Buzbee, who was previously called an “ambulance chaser” by JAY-Z, said his team will investigate Jane Doe’s accusations and review her claims.
