During a DJ set in Abu Dhabi, Metro Boomin transitioned from a song by Drake to lyrics from Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That.”
Metro Boomin performs Drake’s song and Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse
A video surfaced on social media on Saturday (April 27) of Metro Boomin doing something unexpected while performing a DJ set in Abu Dhabi on Friday (April 26). In the clip (shown below), Young Metro plays Drake’s 2021 song “Knife Talk” (featuring 21 Savage and Project Pat), followed by Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” lyrics.
This musical turn came as a surprise to many fans on social media, given that Metro and Drake have feuded on social media in the past. Of course, the hitmaker also produced “Like That,” which featured K-Dot slamming Drizzy and J. Cole. So it might come as a surprise to fans that Metro plays any song from the OVO Sound leader’s catalog.
But considering Drake’s “Knife Talk” was produced by Metro, it shouldn’t be too shocking that he included it in his DJ set. After all, it’s technically his song, too.
Ye claps back at J. Cole on “Like That (Remix)”
At the same time, there is no official word on whether the remix of Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That” will be officially released on DSP.
On April 20, Ye appeared on Justin Laboy’s podcast The Download and premiered his song on tracks from Pluto and Young Metro. In the song, the Chicago rhymer blasts J. Cole for being weak and disses Drake, claiming he can’t recite the Toronto rap star’s lyrics.
“This is a rap for n***as/Where’s Lucian? Serve your master, n***a/You caught a little bag for your master, didn’t you?/Deal for life, I serve n***a **Feeling sad because / Y’all out of sight, out of mind / I can’t even think of Drake’s line / Play J. Cole, kill the p***y / Play this shit a hundred and thirty times,” Ye raps the song, which can be heard below.
