Master P is excited that Kendrick Lamar has been chosen to perform at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, but he hopes the Los Angeles native can at least bring out Lil Wayne for his hometown newcomer Orleans graced the grand stage.

Earlier this month, the No Limits mogul was named the official “Entertainment Ambassador” of the 2025 Super Bowl by Mayor NOLA. After K.Dot was announced as a performer on Sunday (September 8), P mentioned his title and agreed with other fans and peers who were upset that Weezy wasn’t featured.

“Hats off to @kendricklamar for his performance at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. He’s well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the hottest songs right now,” he began. “As an entertainment ambassador for the city of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration.

“He’s one of the greatest Hop Hop artists alive and still influential, and he’s a native New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! When our legends are here We have to give them flowers while we’re here @masterpmasterclass #Godisgood Change starts with us @nfl @jayz @mayorcantrell”

Master P isn’t the only one to speak out about his decision to put Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne.

Hours after Dot was announced, famed mixing engineer Fabian Marasciullo (whose credits include several of Wayne’s projects and singles including “Go DJ,” Tha Carter III, and “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy”) took to his Instagram Stories expressed his disappointment.

“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all. Inspired,” Marasciullo wrote. “Never again be in a position or have [goat emoji] We are put in a position where we are at the mercy of other people’s decisions. We will make a decision.

It’s unclear what formal discussions might have taken place between Lil Wayne and the NFL, or what role his longtime engineer might have played in them. However, the Young Money founder has been vocal about his desire to be part of the entertainment calendar when the football tournament takes place in his city next year.

In an interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks last December, Weezy discussed his desire to perform at Super Bowl LIX, which will be held on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

“As much as I wanted to see my name at the top of the list, no matter what age I was, I would rush into the office and get that Billboard magazine,” he said of wanting to perform.

“Like an artist, you know, because it has nothing to do with the sport. As an artist, it’s an achievement. It has nothing to do with the sport – it’s crazy. I don’t care what teams are playing, what city it’s in . Like, what? Oh my God, this is an achievement.

As part of an official statement from the NFL, JAY-Z called Kendrick Lamar “a man of a generation,” adding, “His love for hip-hop and culture reflects his artistic vision,” Jay-Z said. “He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence global culture. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
