Lil Zay Osama is speaking out after a Chicago mother and her 9-year-old son were beaten by a group of children earlier this week.

The rapper posted a message on his Instagram Story on Tuesday (November 18) offering to help the family, who can be seen on cellphone video being punched and kicked by other children on their way home from school. The video went viral.

“Can someone tag his family and let them know I’m looking for him?” Zai also included a photo of the victim of the attack. “I saw the video of that mom and her kids jumping off a building. As a dad with kids that age, that’s different. That’s not Chicago. I need that young man in the video to know that what happened to him and his mom is not normal.”

The Chicago Rhymes offered to give the family Christmas money, fly them to Los Angeles for the weekend, and take them out to dinner.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, the incident allegedly stemmed from bullying at Orville Bright Elementary School in Chicago’s South Deering neighborhood.

Corshawnda Hatter, 33, who was seriously injured in the attack, described the events leading up to the attack. Although her son was also injured in the beating, her youngest daughter who was present was not injured.

“I asked my kids to come to the other side of the street with me so they wouldn’t get jumped, so we kept walking,” Hart said. “They followed us all the way there and they beat my son first, dragged me to the grass and pulled my child’s hair. I’m trying to get justice for my son. I’m grateful to everyone who came here to support me.”

Lil Zay Osama also spoke to Fox 32 Chicago, saying he hopes the Chicago community “does better” after the brutal attack.

“This is something that shouldn’t happen,” Zay shared. “Children should be able to go to school, easily walk home from school and learn at school. Children of that age should not be doing things like this. Especially to adults and their peers who go to school with them. It’s crazy. This shouldn’t be happening in our community. We have to do better.”

The mother of several of the children who attacked Hart and her son posted videos of herself with her children, condemning their violence. No arrests have been made.
