Rumors of Lil Baby’s arrest for murdering two teenagers quickly spread on social media after Atlanta police said the killing was linked to “a gang war” that was shot during a rapper’s music video.
The victims, 13-year-old Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman, were fatally shot in Atlanta on July 2, 2024.
In a press conference Wednesday (February 26), authorities said their deaths were part of an escalating gang conflict that began shooting at Lil Baby’s music video in May 2024.
The filming took place in an area frequented by members of rival gang OMF. During the filming, three men were shot but survived, while Lil Baby himself was not hurt.
Police believe the incident triggered a retaliatory shooting between the gang 4pf and OMF.
After the press conference, social media was speculated that Lil Baby was arrested for the murder.
But on Thursday night (February 27), the rapper “too hard” took to social media to close rumors of his arrest and make sure fans were not detained.
“Thank you for all your concerns,” Lil Baby wrote in the Instagram story. “Please don’t be misunderstood by fake news!! I’m so good.”
Atlanta PD slams Lil Baby’s “coward movement”
Major Ralph Woolfolk called Lil Baby’s behavior “cowardly”, saying he entered a hostile gang stronghold, and he knew he shouldn’t do it.
Seven people were arrested and charged with allegedly related to the death of the teenager.
The arrest warrant reportedly confirmed Lil Baby’s connection to the case, calling him the leader of the 4PF gang.
Police claimed a senior gang rival ordered a blow to two teenagers on a prison call.
Authorities are working to hold Lil Baby and its branches responsible for their role in inspiring the gang’s conflict.
“You know who you are,” Woolfolk said. “And I tell you that this team will work tirelessly to keep you and the people you are responsible for these actions.”
