Kendrick Lamar swept eight categories to become the night’s big winner at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards.

K-Dot was a no-show at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday night (October 15), but that didn’t stop him from receiving the most accolades at the show. The annual event was taped on October 8 and concluded at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub in Las Vegas.

He beat out Drake, 21 Savage, Cardi B, Future, GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj to win the Hip Hop Artist of the Year award. Kendrick also competed with Lil Wayne, Common, 21, Cardi, Drake, Megan and Nicki to win Lyricist of the Year. With 12 nominations, Megan became the most nominated artist but did not compete in any category.

Kenny’s hit “Not Like Us,” which became a hit due to his rap battle with Drake, swept the awards for song of the year, best hip-hop video and influential song. The 37-year-old rapper’s appearance on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” was another piece of controversy in a feud with Drizzy that earned Kendrick several Best Collaboration Awards and Sweet 16: Most Best Feature Poetry Award.

He might even add Video Director of the Year to his list of accomplishments. Kendrick and Dave Free defeated Cole Bennett, Dave Meyers and Travis Scott, 20k Visuals, A$AP Rocky, Cactus Jack, Doja Cat and Nina McNeely, and Offset.

Kendrick Lamar was arguably rap’s MVP this year when he emerged victorious in a rap battle with Drake that became one of the biggest feuds in hip-hop history.
