The owner of an Austin restaurant responded to a video of a complaint posted on Facebook by an unhappy customer. Not only was his complaint invalid, she said, but she had the receipts to prove it.

TikTok founder Gabriela Bucio (@gabriela.atx) is a restaurateur in Austin, Texas. In a video posted on Nov. 17, she recounted an incident that occurred at her restaurant Gabriela’s South.

First, Busio said the customer, whom she calls “Mr. Roger,” and his group arrived at the restaurant an hour late for their 7:15 p.m. reservation. Still, the staff realized it was a party of regulars and accommodated them anyway.

Why is this Gabriella’s Southern client posting on Facebook?

Apparently Roger (known as Roger El Versache on Facebook) didn’t appreciate the courtesy, because Busio said he reciprocated the kindness by complaining about the menu, the size of the cocktails, and the way the food was prepared, even though Busio said everything was clearly marked on the menu.

The story doesn’t end there. Busio also accused customers of mistreating her bartenders. He then posted a video to Facebook detailing his complaint.

“Unfortunately, he was rude to our female employees and this behavior will not be tolerated, even in the video where he made inappropriate and disrespectful comments about them,” she wrote in the video’s caption. “We wish him all the best and hope he finds a place that better suits his preferences.”

Additionally, Busio posted a screenshot of a Facebook message she said she received from others at the party who watched the video and wanted to clarify that the party as a whole did not agree with Roger’s views.

In another Facebook post, Rodger pointed out in response to the screenshot that there was apparently a “Judas” at the dinner table. In his comments, he also claimed that no one in the party directly told him that he had crossed a line or asked him to delete the video.

Viewers react to Gabriella South’s Facebook row

In the comments section, viewers discussed the video of the man’s complaint and Busio’s response.

“Some people have nothing better to do with their time,” one person wrote. “As soon as I get to Austin, Gabriella South is my go-to location.”

Another viewer said: “I love how calmly you handled this. It shows how professional and well-educated you are, Gaby. God bless you and your business forever.”

“We tried leaving him messages and contacting him, but one thing I learned is to never argue with people in their territory,” Busio responded.

However, some commenters confirmed at least some of Roger’s complaints. “I don’t know, girl,” one person wrote. “I’ve been to Gabriela’s South and the attitude of the staff has always been engaging. It took them a while to greet us at the table. One time I asked the waitress to say she had forgotten and we waited 30 minutes for water. I do like your drinks, though.”

Busio responded: “Serious complaints are valid. My video was in response to his complaint that we didn’t have a reservation and happy hour prices were not indicated on the menu. I always take complaints seriously and there is always a manager [on-site]”.

Four years ago, in a Reddit post on r/AustinFood, customers discussed the pros and cons of Gabriella South. One person wrote: “Food was good, service hit or miss, music too loud during normal meal times.” A second said: “Gabriela (the owner) is great. My family loves her style.”

All Hip Hop reached out to Roger El Versache via Instagram direct message for comment. We also contacted Bucio via TikTok private message for comment.

@gabriela.atx

Mr. Roger did not make a reservation at Gabriela’s South because the group’s reservation time was for 7:15 pm and they were more than an hour late. Even so, we were happy to host the whole group as they always dined with us and everyone had a great time except him. Unfortunately, he was rude to our female employees, behavior we will not tolerate, and even made inappropriate and disrespectful comments about them in his videos. We wish him all the best and hope he finds a place that better suits his preferences.
