The Game has been making hip-hop headlines this week with a quick mixtape and major album release, confirming that Documentary 3 will be released in 2026.
The Compton rapper has teamed up with DJ Drama for his first Gangsta Grillz project, a compact 18-track mixtape titled “Every Movie Needs A Trailer.”
Completed in just two days with Grammy-nominated producer Mike N Keys, the project showcases The Game’s relentless work ethic and sharp strokes.
“This year I wanted to bring fresh music to the fans while preparing for the release of Documentary 3, so I worked with Mike N Keys to knock out these 19 tracks,” said The Game. “Then we’ll win the year with this album.”
The announcement follows his recent appearance on Big Boy’s Neighborhood and The Cruz Show in Los Angeles, where he reflected on his career, the lyrical standards of modern hip-hop, and the personal growth that shaped his legacy.
The game’s 2025 calendar is already packed. He started the new year by supporting first responders during the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. He also launched the “20th Anniversary Documentary Tour”, his first international tour in more than a decade, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of his debut album “Documentary”.
In February, the city of Compton recognized his impact on the community during Black History Month. On Dec. 13, he will serve as grand marshal of the 70th annual Compton Christmas Parade.
With eight No. 1 albums on the Billboard Rap and R&B/Hip-Hop charts, and three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, The Game has left a lasting legacy in the genre.
