Future’s first solo studio album in four years, “The Real Me,” has been released.
The 22-track effort, released on the streaming service on Friday (July 10), marks the Atlanta rapper’s 10th solo studio album and his first solo release since 2024’s Mixtape Pluto.
In a video posted to his Instagram Story on July 1, Pluto shared a conversation he had over dinner, explaining his motivation behind the project and its title.
“I like real love. I don’t want fake love,” he told a woman he spoke to. “True love is like having another life, like having another hit record, how many people can get that?”
He continued: “If you saw me holding a damn girl’s hand with me, she’d be like, ‘Nah, I still love you. I love you when you hold the other damn hand!'” he said. “This is not right [but] This is unconditional love. I’m still me. It doesn’t matter anything. you love me because of who i am [whether] Have I ever been tempted. “
“I was at a point in my life where I was becoming who I really was,” he explains. “You suffer because you can’t even show people who you really are. That’s why I made this album, ‘The Real Me.’ Because I want people to know that this is who I really am.”
Future first revealed the effort back in January, asking fans to help name his new album with a post on his Instagram Story. Then in June, the abbreviation TRM began to appear on Spotify advertising boards, and he later announced the full name and release date on June 15, along with the LP’s lead single “Radio.”
