The FBI showed Lil Durk killing a Quando Rondo lookalike in a music video and revealed a text saying Durk couldn’t let King Von’s death slip away in the new indictment.
The government filed a third superseding indictment in the U.S. Court for the Central District of California on Thursday (June 4) charging the Chicago rapper with additional counts of murder in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to commit stalking. In the 30-page document, prosecutors shared more new evidence, including screenshots from an unreleased music video for the song “Redman,” which allegedly shows Duke shooting and killing imposter Quando Rondo.
Additionally, they showed a text message in which Duke typed “I can’t let this slip,” referring to King Von’s murder.
Durk’s legal team refuted the new accusations in a statement posted on social media.
“This indictment is putting lipstick on a pig,” the statement read. “For nearly two years, federal prosecutors have been desperately trying to fend off challenges to a very weak case. Now, just two months before trial — the trial Duke Banks has requested every time — they have pulled the pathetic pivot, regurgitating old charges into a disorganized prosecutor’s back-up plan: charging racketeering and as many unrelated false accusations as possible.
Lil Durk is accused of paying five men to kill Quando Rondo in 2022 in retaliation for the death of King Von, who was shot to death in November 2020 by Quando Rondo’s co-worker Timothy Leeks.
All six men have pleaded not guilty. The trial is expected to begin on August 20.
