Drake is using his parody skills to endorse Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Euphoria,” which is a pretty smart sign that The Boy actually listened to K-Dot’s lyrics.
Nearly 12 hours after Kendrick dished on Drake’s “Euphoria” on Tuesday (April 30), No. 6 finally hinted that he knows the song for the first time. The moment dominated social media all day, so it would be surprising if Drake missed it. The Toronto rapper posted a classic scene from the 1999 cult classic teen movie 10 Things I Hate About You to his Instagram Story.
Drake posts classic scene from ’10 Things I Hate About You’ to spoof Kendrick Lamar
In a popular movie clip that Drizzy decided to use to spoof Kendrick Lamar, Kate, played by actress Julia Stiles, stands up and reads a poem in front of her high school class. “I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair/I hate the way you drive, I hate the way you stare at me/I hate your big stupid combat boots and the way you read my mind Way/I hate you so much it makes me sick and even makes me rhyme,” Styles recited. The quote was addressed to Kate’s love interest, Patrick, played by the late actor Heath Ledger.
The poem is a sarcastic reference to Kendrick Lamar’s own “Euphoria” lyrics directed at Drake: “I hate the way you walk, the way you talk/I Hate the way you dress/I hate the sneaky way you diss, if I have a flight to catch, it’s a direct flight.
For those particular lyrics, K-Dot seemed inspired by DMX’s 2012 Breakfast Club interview. “I don’t like Drake,” DMX said. “I don’t like his fucking voice, I don’t like what he says, I don’t like his face, I don’t like the way he walks. Nothing like that. I don’t like his haircut.”
Apparently Drake heard Kendrick’s “Euphoria,” so what now? Drizzy has been baiting K-Dot with his own fiery rants on “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle” to get some sort of response after the “Like That” verse. According to Drake, Kendrick took too long. “I thought, while we were waiting for you,” he wrote in the caption “Tyler Made Freestyle.” With the answers he demands, and two diss songs from Drake and Kendrick, the lyrical ball is now in The Boy’s court.
