50 Cent is fomenting cultural terror, and Netflix is right in the middle of it. Oh, what a fool!

The rapper-turned-media boss’s new four-part documentary series is already causing serious friction. As you may have seen in the trailer, it features important interior (private) footage of Diddy. Diddy and his team claim this was never cleaned up for the world to see. Hip-hop meets Hollywood!

Sean Combs: The Reckoning series will delve deeper into the tycoon’s life through footage apparently filmed during his final free days in September 2024. The New York Times reported that the clips were from hotel conversations and outings that he believed were filmed for his future projects. These are not staged confessionals or legendary party moments. This is quiet time. These things are often protected by teams, lawyers and tight-lipped videographers. Uh-huh……

A spokesman for Diddy responded sharply, strongly objecting to the inclusion of the video. The statement blasted the clips as “unauthorized release,” defining them as “private moments, pre-prosecution material for unfinished projects, and conversations involving legal strategy.” This is serious.

Remember – Diddy had a case with NBC over their documentary. Read about it here.

Didi’s team made it clear that no information was provided by Didi, his circle, or anyone close to him. Now, his camp wants to know how Netflix obtained the material and why it was allowed to appear in the production. I think they knew, but that’s another story.

50 Cent, on the other hand, is not folding. I think they’re smart enough to know they can’t use something they can’t legally use. He and director Alexandria Stapleton argued that the shots were necessary to tell the broader story they wanted to tell. They say their goal is to explore decades of accusations and the ecosystem surrounding one of hip-hop’s most complex figures. If you know 50, then you know that he won’t give away anything that he feels belongs in the narrative.

So far, Netflix has been silent. They did not reveal how the material in question found its way into the series. The premiere is set for December 2nd…and we’re about to have a blast. I don’t see the delay

For now, all we know is that temperatures are rising.

Shout out to LL aka Loren Lorosa for all the good stuff.
