Cardi B received new court support on Wednesday (August 27), with key witnesses testifying that she did not see a rapper reaching out to security personnel during the 2018 dispute held at the OB-GYN office in Beverly Hills.
Tierra Malcolm, the receptionist who worked in the clinic that day, told the jurors that she walked into the corridor after hearing the sound of the rising sound. She saw Cardi B and security officer Emani Ellis during the heated verbal exchange, but had no physical contact. She added that she placed herself between two women to reduce the situation.
Malcolm testified that she later noticed a scratch on her face, which she thought was from Ellis, not Cardi. She said she faced the guards head-on when the incident happened and then returned to Cardi.
Her claim directly challenged Ellis’ claim that she was beaten up in the confrontation.
The incident occurred when the clinic closed early to give Cardi Privacy an appointment.
Malcolm’s testimony helped strengthen Cardi’s version of the incident, which she shared in her testimony earlier this week.
“I didn’t hit her. She didn’t hit me. No touch. So for me, there was no incident.” Cardi told the court, denying any physical dispute. She admitted that the two were “breast to chest” and exchanged words, but insisted that it never became violent.
Cardi also noted that she was four months pregnant and weighed about 130 pounds, and Ellis was much bigger. She insisted that she wouldn’t be healthy, adding that Ellis’s filming sparked a confrontation without her consent.
The testimony in support of Malcolm, Dr. David Finke, who treated Cardi’s ob-gyn on the day, said he saw Ellis causing shoulder damage to Malcolm and did not witness Cardi B touching anyone.
“I was just shocked by the allegations that seemed inconsistent with what I saw and heard that day,” Fink told the court.
The civil trial will continue this week in Los Angeles County.
