Kendrick Lamar’s victory in the Drake beef, which ended with the “Not Like Us” music video, has many fans rearranging their lists of top rappers. Now that Kendrick is officially in a lyrical showdown — the biggest since Jay-Z and Nas, in fact — we can compare him to some of hip-hop’s other mic-killers. Of course, when it comes to technical proficiency, disrespectful remarks, and undisputed record, one name that might immediately come to mind is Detroit’s own Eminem. While most of his opponents aren’t on his level, he does have an impressive battle rap history and extensive experience.

To be fair, the same goes for Kendrick Lamar’s experience as a battle rapper early in his career. Plus, there are plenty of other names to consider in this debate: Pusha T, the aforementioned Esco and Hov, Lupe Fiasco, and legends Tupac Shakur and Ice Cube in their prime. But Eminem is probably the most popular and prominent example. Some fans believe Slim Shady’s experience will give him the upper hand, while others believe K.Dot has proven he can go far with just about anyone and has the strategic approach to do so.

Eminem fans doubt Kendrick Lamar can beat him in rap battle, while others disagree

In fact, there’s a chance (albeit very, very small) that we might actually see this hypothetical battle take place one day. But we doubt it. After all, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are two Dr. Dre protégés, former collaborators, and 2022 Super Bowl halftime performers: we know there’s nothing to argue with. However, Marshall Mathers has blasted himself for being the best presenter on his new single “Toby.” Many thought he was dissing Jay-Z, but Royce Da 5’9″ shot down the rumor. If Kendrick and Em are indeed up to the challenge of both sides’ new statements, check out more of the fan debate below to see what might happen What.

More fans debate Slim Shady vs. K.Dot

At the same time, we know Eminem thinks highly of Kendrick Lamar and vice versa. So if they do get into a lyrical feud, we know it won’t be a beef-driven situation, just a “friendly fadeout.” Still, considering the weight of their diss material and their prowess as artists, this would be an amazing feat and a fantastic showcase. Maybe they should consider another collaboration and push each other to their limits.
