Ashanti shared some touching memories in a recent tribute post to late hip-hop artists Fatman Scoop and Rich Homie Quan.

Ashanti took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday (September 19) to post archival footage of Scoop and Quan, as well as a heartfelt message about her experience working with the two late artists. In the first post she shared, Ashanti spoke about her opportunity to work with Quan in the studio, which she called a pleasure while also praising the Atlanta rapper’s immense talent.

“I am delighted to be working with this young legend,” Ashanti wrote. “I was so impressed with his talent, his melodies were crazy and he was super fast in the studio. RIP Rich Homie Quan, sending love, prayers and peace to his family.

In a follow-up post, Ashanti shared a video of her and Scoop hanging out in an airport during their 2022 Australian tour, which includes artists like Akon, Jay Sean, Dru Hill and Shaggy. In the video’s title, Ashanti recalls the comfort she felt when interviewing Scoop for the first time and the “energy” he brought to the collaboration.

“I remember my first Scoop radio interview as a new artist,” she wrote. “He was always enthusiastic and very down to earth. He brought the most energy to every record. He was making it a hit. We had a blast doing this run in Australia. RIP to the iconic ‘Fat Man Scoop’, sending love, peace and blessings to the family.

Sadly, both Scoop and Quan passed away suddenly earlier this month. Scoop died the night of August 30 after collapsing at a concert in Connecticut, and a few days later on September 5, Quan was found dead at home, along with his long-time girlfriend. For its part, the black music community has been forced to carry a heavy heart throughout this process.

See the post above for Ashanti’s tribute to Scoop and Quan.
