The teenage gunman who fatally shot PnB Rock nearly two years ago has been deemed unfit to stand trial, Rolling Stone reported on Friday (July 26). The young man appeared in court at the hearing on Friday wearing a bright orange detention center uniform.
Commissioner Sharonda P. Bradford said the unnamed teen was receiving services while in custody but was incapable of receiving them due to a lack of mental capacity to follow criminal proceedings. trial.
Commissioner Bradford told the hearing: “It is recommended that the previous order be retained. Proceedings remain suspended and remedial measures continue.” A follow-up hearing is scheduled for August.
According to prosecutors, the young man was 17 years old when he walked into a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles on September 12, 2022, and shot PnB Rock (born Rakim Allen) multiple times. The teen allegedly snatched several pieces of jewelry from around the rapper’s neck while his horrified fiancée Stephanie Sibounheuang tried to help Rock as he lay lifeless on the floor.
The boy’s father, Freddie Tone, and stepmother, Shauntel Trone, have also been charged with PnB Rock’s murder. He has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder, two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit a felony.
Shortell was later charged as an accomplice and eventually accepted a plea deal. Another man, Tremont Jones, who was accused of tipping off Freedie and PnB Rock’s teen, was charged with two counts of robbery, conspiracy to rob the rapper and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, but he Not guilty.

PnB Rock Murder Trial: Day Two
Meanwhile, the ongoing PnB Rock murder trial was taking place simultaneously in the same building during a juvenile court hearing.
During the trial, jurors were shown a series of horrific images showing Locke’s blood smeared on the walls and floors inside Roscoe’s institution. One of the first police officers to arrive on the scene described providing aid to the late rapper as he took his last breaths.
The officer also testified that when soldiers loaded Rock onto a gurney to take him to the hospital, the rapper had a gun in the waistband on his back.
The placement of the gun on Locke’s back is notable given that Throne’s attorney argued last January that his client’s son may have fired out of fear. “From the restaurant cameras, it was unclear what Mr. Trone was doing with his hands after his son approached him. [The son] “He may have feared for his life,” defense attorney Winston Maxson wrote in a motion to dismiss the charges.
