Dawn Richard told the federal court Friday (May 16) that she witnessed Diddy strike Cassie Ventura’s 2009 dispute at his Los Angeles home, using a frying pan over his head because his breakfast wasn’t ready.
The former Danity Kane Singer and Dirty Money partner took a stance on the 5th day of Diddy’s ongoing federal trial, offering a brief but shocking account of alleged violence, who she said had witnessed firsthand firsthand while working under a hip-hop tycoon from 2004 to 2011.
Richard testified: “He screamed downstairs, belligerent, asked where his food was and then knocked her on the head in front of us.”
Richard describes the scene, which she says is unfolded in a recording of Diddy’s mansion. When asked what happened the next day,
Richard said Didi warned her: “It would be better if we didn’t speak. Where he came from, people would go missing.”
Shortly after Richard’s testimony began, Judge Arun Subramanian dismissed the jury. She is expected to return to the stands on Monday (May 19) to continue her account.
Diddy pleaded not guilty to federal charges, including sex trafficking, extortion and transporting individuals to prostitution. The Justice Department said Didi used his music empire as a front for criminal businesses that exploit women and employees.
Richard’s testimony adds to the growing number of charges against Didi. She also had a $3 million civil lawsuit against him, accusing him of years of sexual and physical abuse.
Richard claimed in that lawsuit that he groped her, patted her, and held a meeting in his lingerie. She also claimed that his bodyguard had been locked up for hours before appearing in 2010’s “Saturday Night Live.”
According to the complaint, Richard contacted his father during the incident, prompting him to drive from Baltimore to New York. She said Didi warned her father to “consider your daughter’s career.”
Richard’s testimony was restored on May 19 (May 19) in southern New York.
