Suge Knight is a polarizing figure in hip-hop. He was the bodyguard of the co-founder of Death Row Records. He was the driver of the car when 2Pac was shot. He is currently in prison for voluntary manslaughter and is not eligible for parole until 2034. Knight took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on Lamar’s long-awaited diss record, Euphoria. His reaction was predictable in some ways, but surprising in others.
First, Knight appears as professional K. Dot. No hip-hop fan was surprised to hear the news. “First round winner is Kendrick Lamar,” he tweeted. The rest of the post caught fans off guard. Knight is a notorious violent criminal who decided to use Drake’s beef with Lamar as a platform to denounce colorism and violence within the black community.

This was presumably triggered by the fact that Drake has been ridiculed for being light-skinned, making Drake less authentic than Lamar. “Yonkin, let’s stop saying light-skinned people are not black,” Knight asserted. “Because the police don’t think so. Black people are black. It creates a divide between us and I don’t fucking like it.” Some X users praised Knight for being outspoken on the topic, but others criticized him for being a hypocrite , because of his past misconduct. And those who just want to know why Knight has access to X.
However, those who are into the Drake vs. Lamar debate know that Sugenight has been vocal in his opinions. He was extremely critical of Drake’s use of an AI-generated 2Pac on the diss track “Taylor Made Freestyle.” He even dedicated an episode of his podcast “Collect Calls” to the issue. “For him to write a song and laugh at Kendrick for everyone’s entertainment — that’s not what happened,” Knight asserted. “Then having him sing a song with Snoopy, who was part of his downfall and exit, was never a good idea. He was never a pawn.”
