Just a few days ago, J Cole shocked the hip-hop world with the release of a new project titled “Delete Later.” The new project happens to include a diss track directed at Kendrick Lamar called “7 Minute Drill.” Overall, the diss track received mixed reviews. Many thought it was weak, while others thought it was a good way to review Kendrick’s work. However, Cole has since rescinded his diss. Cole apologized to Kendrick at the Dreamville Festival on Sunday night. Turns out, writing the diss song made him feel bad.
“I’m very proud of this project, except for one part of it,” Cole said. “Part of it makes me feel like, ‘Man, this is the lamest thing I’ve ever done in my fucking life.'” And, I know that’s not what a lot of people want to hear. I can hear my guy up there right now saying, “No, don’t do that.” But, I have to keep it 100 with everyone. I almost relapsed. ” This elicited reactions from TDE members such as Punch and Reason. As you can see, they weren’t that funny.

J Cole elicits strong response
Punch tweeted simply “Haha.” Reason, meanwhile, said, “I don’t know, I just… don’t know.” This is consistent with what many other hip-hop fans are thinking right now. At the end of the day, Cole probably should have stood up for his diss track. Instead, we get an apology that may well threaten our legacy. Only time will tell how long it will take for fans to forget this ever happened.
