50 Cent isn’t backing down when it comes to the money owed to him by multinational beverage company Beam Suntory.
Last year, 50 and his liquor brand Sire Spirits entered into mediation with the company after accusing Beam’s agents of corruption involving millions of dollars in unpaid invoices.
Following a series of posts on Instagram the day before that were harshly critical of the company, 50 people returned to Instagram on Tuesday (March 12) with a screenshot of an article headlined by Fox 5 News: “ 50 Cent’s Sire Spirits: Multimillion-dollar embezzlement ‘plan threatens brand’ – and demands double the amount he thinks he’s owed.
“Expired yesterday,” he wrote in the post. “Now I need to double before Monday. @beamsuntory @jimbeamofficial someone should tell you about me.”
50 Cent promised in a post about the incident the day before that the company would “pay a price” for their actions.
“@beamsuntory will pay the price for their faith in me,” he wrote. “These big companies think they can do anything with impunity. I’ve spent millions of dollars in legal fees over this. They’re going to find out that I’m not someone you want to hang out with.”
He added: “Here’s a clearer version of the news, @beamsuntory @jimbeamofficial, I’m not the one you want to start with. In the best possible way I’ll need my money by Monday.”
The posts included a clip from a television news report covering legal disputes with beverage companies in the 1950s.
50 Cent later published a letter purportedly from Beam Suntory dated August 15, 2016, to one of the people accused of corruption.
“This is a letter @beamsuntory sent without my knowledge to people involved in a scheme that cost me millions of dollars,” he wrote in the caption.
“I really need to hold a press conference to tell you more about convicted felons Mitchel E. Green, Julious Grant, Arnaud Fabre, and… What happened when Beam paid millions of dollars to help sell my brand, ‘Lord Michael’ Caruso?”
The Power and BMF producer ended his tirade by teasing a TV series about the scandal: “It would be a great improv project.”
Beam Suntory has denied the allegations, telling Fox 5 New York in a statement: “Beam Suntory vehemently denies all allegations of wrongdoing. It had no involvement in or knowledge of the fraudulent activity alleged in the complaint, nor any allegation to the contrary.” Facts.
“While we have no doubt that we have fulfilled all of our prior obligations to Mr. Jackson and Sire Spirits, it is extremely unfortunate that the parties involved continue to misrepresent facts and mislead liability in an attempt to recover costs and damages.”
