Pop-rap icon Beyoncé is facing fresh legal heat after a new copyright threat was levied against her track “Alien Superstar” over an allegedly uncleared sample on August 14, 2026. New Orleans bounce group Big Freedia’s former collaborators filed a cease-and-desist claiming their 1999 chant was used without credit or payment.
The filing, sent by attorneys for former Big Freedia associate Big Chub, alleges the iconic “I’m too classy for this world” bounce chant was originally theirs and not cleared for RENAISSANCE. Big Freedia was credited on the track, but Big Chub claims he co-wrote the chant. Lawsuit threatens $2M damages if not settled in 10 days.
Parkwood Entertainment has not responded, but sources say Bey’s team believes Freedia’s credit covers it. “Alien Superstar” was already subject to a similar claim in 2022 which was settled. The new threat comes as Beyonce preps Act III for October.
