In Las Vegas, a full 16-person jury has officially been selected for the trial of former gang leader Duane “Keefe D” Davis on August 14, 2026. Charged with orchestrating the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur, Davis stated through his team today that he is “not scared” of a potential life sentence. The panel includes 12 jurors plus 4 alternates.
Judge Carli Kierny confirmed selection after 3 days of screening 200 potential jurors. Opening statements are now set for August 18. The judge also officially allowed Keefe D’s memoir Compton Street Legend as evidence yesterday. Keefe D told Daily Mail from jail “I slept good, I ain’t scared” when asked about life sentence.
The trial is expected to last 6 weeks with media from around the world credentialed. Suge Knight has not been subpoenaed but prosecutors hinted he could be called. This is the first prosecution ever for Tupac’s murder, 30 years after his death.
