Sexxy Red is named as one of the defendants in an unpaid royalties case, according to an ongoing lawsuit in which Tay Keith allegedly failed to receive compensation for 13 songs he produced for her in 2024. Now, Sexxy Red has made an emotional plea to the judge in the form of a letter.
Sexxy Red wrote to the judge explaining that artists often have no control over payments to producers and that it is primarily a record label issue. “Ty Keith and I are great working partners and even better friends,” she wrote. “If the record company owes him money, I’m sure they’ve already started paying him.”
Additionally, Sexxy Red explained the idea of record labels being compensated for music delivered, explaining that she herself hasn’t seen many royalties as part of standard procedure. “I have co-written several songs with Tay Keith, but I have not received payment yet. This is just a process for the label to pay after all funds are recouped,” she wrote.
All in all, she is asking to be dismissed as the case proceeds between the record label and relevant stakeholders. What do you think?
