Mello Buckzz was recently arrested in Chicago and faces multiple charges after police found a stolen gun in her car.
Police records obtained by XXL on Wednesday, June 24, show that Melo was arrested on June 15 and faces five charges. The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Melanie Doyle, was pulled over for having a tinted windshield, WGN 9 reports. During the stop, police reported finding a small amount of marijuana in Merlo’s purse and an open bottle of vodka on the floor near the front passenger seat.
Police reports state that Mello became “uncooperative” and was eventually removed from the vehicle by responding officers. While conducting the search, an officer reportedly saw the barrel of a Glock handgun under the driver’s seat, which they later determined had been stolen in Chicago’s southwest suburbs.
Melo was on probation from a 2024 case and has since been ordered to the Cook County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of resisting arrest, having a windshield obscured and transporting open bottles of alcohol. She is currently awaiting a scheduled court hearing.
Melo shared a call from prison on social media on June 19, thanking fans for their support and promoting her upcoming project Pretty Opp, which is scheduled to drop this week.
“I really wish I was sending this message from home, but I’m not,” she said. “Things didn’t go that way. As you all know, I’ve been trying my best to reinvent myself and my image. A few blocks by chance, but that’s nothing for a big dog.”
Melo continued, “I just ask and thank you all in advance for your support and everything you do and keep you in my prayers. They can’t keep a real bitch down for too long! Keep praying. I love you guys. Don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Don’t believe the hype.
“June 26th, beautiful OPP tape. I wish I could help get it to you all. You all know I’m 100% committed to my fans, my craft, and my career. But I’m not. Release me. Love you all.”
