Don’t call it a comeback — but D12 just did it anyway. The Detroit crew blindsided fans Friday with “D12 Forever,” a surprise compilation marking their first official release in years.
The project dropped with zero rollout, no singles, and no Eminem feature, but the return alone was enough to send hip-hop Twitter into a frenzy. Longtime members Swift, Kuniva, and Mr. Porter are all present, honoring the group’s legacy and late member Proof.
D12’s last full-length was 2004’s “D12 World,” and outside of scattered features, the group has been dormant. “D12 Forever” leans into gritty Detroit bars, horror-core nods, and tributes to their Shady Records roots.
The timing is wild. With 50 Cent teasing new music and Eminem’s own vault always a topic, the D12 drop reignites speculation about a Shady family run.
Whether this is a one-off or the start of more, the message is clear: Detroit’s most notorious clique isn’t done. The Underground still has something to say.
