Polo G achieved a major milestone in his life. The Chicago rapper is celebrating one year of sobriety.
Polo G shared a series of photos on his Instagram page on Monday (June 8), showing himself in a peaceful setting surrounded by flowers and green grass. In several photos, Polo sits calmly on a chair while braiding his hair.
The 27-year-old rhymed in the caption: “Officially 1YR Sober [heart hands] ….The key words here are “growth” and “discipline”[.]”
“[I’m] I’m so proud and happy for this man [I’ve] It can become a reality through willpower,” he continued. “We all [got] The potential to become who we really want to be[,] we just [gotta] Find it in ourselves. “
To celebrate one year of sobriety, Polo G will release a new song called “Weight on My Shoulders.”

Polo G has struggled with substance abuse for years.
Back in January 2020, the “Pop Out” rapper revealed that he had been battling Xanax and ecstasy addiction for three years.
He wrote in a since-deleted IG post: “I was addicted to
“I say all this to say to anyone struggling with addiction that there is more to life than what you can put your energy into,” he continued. “[I know] What it feels like to want to escape depression, anxiety, or even reality, but it’s only temporary and you have to really figure yourself out and keep working on becoming a better version of yourself. “
It’s great to see Polo G overcome his drug addiction and turn his attention to making music again.
