Travis Scott angered fans in Istanbul after performing for just 20 minutes at his first concert in Turkey.
The 35-year-old Houston rapper arrived 90 minutes late to the May 31 event at Tersane Istanbul, cutting his performance short despite being a headliner, drawing boos from the 2,500-strong audience as he left the stage.
Exclusive club nights are heavily promoted as premium experiences. The ticket seller promised a 90-minute DJ set starting at 11pm, opening with performances by lesser-known artists.
Fans paid big bucks for the show, which was billed as a “beyond-classic concert” experience. Instead, what they got was disappointment.
Scott arrived nearly two hours late and performed for about 20 minutes before leaving. Concertgoers immediately demanded refunds. Video posted on social media showed the crowd loudly booing as the rapper walked away.
Scott responded on Instagram saying he was just there to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
“I’m attending. Just here to throw a party for a friend’s big day. Can’t wait to get back and put on a real show,” he posted.
His representatives told Turkish media a different story. They claim Scott hosted the party for an hour and then gave a “20-minute-long performance.” These conflicting claims only fueled fan dissatisfaction.
The incident marked a rocky start to Scott’s first trip to Türkiye.
