Cam’ron and J. Cole end lawsuit over ‘Ready 24’ track

Cam’ron and J. Cole have ended their legal dispute over their 2024 song “Ready ’24.”

According to a document obtained by XXL on Tuesday (May 26), Camron informed the court that “the parties have reached an agreement in principle to resolve the remaining claims” [the lawsuit] and are finalizing settlement documents. “While the exact terms of the settlement have not been disclosed, Cam and Cole expect to finalize the agreement within 30 days.

Prior to the settlement, New York’s Harlem Rhymes sued the Dreamville boss, claiming he and Cole agreed that after Cam delivered his featured verse on Might Delete Later’s song “Ready ’24,” Cole would either jump on one of Cam’s songs or appear on his popular It Is What It Is podcast. J. Cole did neither.

Cam’ron said he recorded the song in 2022, but claimed he was never paid for the collaboration. He wants a judge to force Cole to make him a co-writer on the song and award him more than $500,000 in damages.

In response, Cole denied Cam’s accusations. In a February motion, attorneys for the North Carolina rapper said he never committed to jumping on Cam’ron’s songs or appearing on his digital shows.

On a March episode of the Talk With Flee podcast, Cam’ron and J. Cole finally sat down and ironed out any friction that might have existed between them following the release of Cole’s The Fall-Off project. Cole said he was initially disappointed by the lawsuit.

“When the lawsuit came out, I said, ‘Come on, Cam,'” he said. “My self-reaction was like, quietly, I was like, ‘Fuck this guy.’ But then pretty quickly I was like, ‘But I get it.'”

The Dippet leader acknowledged that his legal action against Cole was just a publicity stunt.

“Of course, it was never going to go anywhere, but to me, it was like, ‘I need to get this attention,'” he said.
