DaBaby insists he’s better than the so-called “Big Three”: Drake, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.
In an Apple Music interview that premiered on YouTube on April 24, DaBaby boldly declared that he is one of the best rappers in the industry, better than Drake, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, who rap fans consider the “big three.”
“A thousand percent. A thousand percent. Like you can go back to when I was starting out… I always said that – I know a lot of people say they’re the best – but, like, I’m the best muthaf**kin’ rapper. Like, I say that all the time, I you know I always say that when I’m doing a freestyle or whatever,” he says 10 minutes into the video below. “That’s a saying of mine that a lot of people are familiar with, but that’s absolutely what I said.”
“You know, I certainly don’t think everybody should feel like they’re the best, but that’s not – I’m not saying that – when I say that. Like, I’m better than these niggas. Like, I really mean that,” he continued.
“I feel like I have the ability to, you know, go anywhere, you know what I mean, musically. Like I can really do that. Even if we put everything else aside and just get back in front of the mic and put on music, like I can, I can get in there with the best of them,” he concluded.
The North Carolina rapper added that he would love to collaborate with Drizzy, Kenny and Cole World just to show that his lyrical skills are on par with theirs.
“It’s not, you know, it’s nothing to frown upon,” DaBaby explained. “I’d love to work with these guys. Like me saying that shit and putting it out there with the music, you know putting it out and getting those doors open for me to finally be in a room with these guys and make a record with these guys.”
DaBaby has a lot to be grateful for. In addition to his just-released project Be More Grateful, the rapper will also headline the Be More Grateful Music Festival in North Carolina on June 13. Rapper 50 Cent, Boosie BadAzz, BigXThaPlug, Trick Daddy, Waka Flocka Flame, Trina, Moneybagg Yo and more will all perform at the festival.
