Rick Ross is preparing his third memoir and 12th album to mark the 20th anniversary of Port of Miami and reflect on his creative renaissance.
Rick Ross is marking the twentieth anniversary of the Port of Miami’s collapse, but he’s not slowing down.
The 50-year-old mogul released his platinum debut album back in 2006, and now he’s celebrating the milestone as he prepares to share his third memoir, The Boss Revival: Notes on a Creative Revival, which hits shelves on May 12.
At the Spotify Audiobook Celebration at West Hollywood’s Mint Club on Saturday, Rick Ross spoke about the creative process that led him to write the book and reflected on his evolution from musician to empire builder.
During the event, Rick Ross revealed the crazy moment at his legendary Georgia estate that almost ended in a fiasco.
He tried to jump into the giant pool of the Promised Land, which he called the “Double Slapper,” and nearly broke his leg in the process.
“I almost broke my leg,” he told the Daily Mail. “But it’s fun.”
His 235-acre, 109-room mansion, Promise Land, has the largest residential swimming pool in the United States and is the backdrop for his infamous pool parties.
Rick Ross purchased the property in 2014 for $5.8 million and later purchased 87 acres for $1 million.
The memoir explores how Ross overcame the creative blocks he encountered after reaching the pinnacle of his success, something many wouldn’t expect for someone like him.
He is also working on his 12th studio album, Set In Stone, which he views as a personal challenge to match or surpass all of his previous releases.
“I challenge myself musically,” he explained at the event. “That’s what the Renaissance is about, it’s not about feeling like you’ve hit a ceiling.”
Ross reflects on his journey from a Florida correctional officer to becoming one of hip-hop’s most successful entrepreneurs and appreciates the struggles that shaped his path.
The trajectory of his career illustrates the power of persistence, and a new memoir delves into how he maintained that desire two decades into his reign.
This book promises to take readers through his creative awakening and mindset shift that allowed him to break through his plateau.
Rick Ross will also tour with a full orchestra and choir in support of the Port of Miami anniversary, performing the album in new ways in multiple cities in 2026.
