Hip-hop veteran Fat Joe is not one to back down, and his recent comments about losing to Chance The Rapper at the Grammys nearly a decade ago are a testament to his outspoken nature and commitment to the music industry’s most prestigious award. The ongoing frustration of the ceremony.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the Bronx rapper revealed how deeply he felt about what he described as “being robbed.” Fat Joe made the statement during a brief break during the playing of his upcoming album The World Changes For Me. In his initial speech, he seemed to credit Killer Mike’s recent success at awards shows with inspiring him to start working in music again.
“I’m busy getting these businesses off the ground and making real money,” Fat Joe said, referring to his recent ventures outside of hip-hop.
“Killer Mike won three Grammys, right, and I called Jay and I was like, ‘Man, fuck it,'” he said. “I said, ‘Let’s go back, let’s lock in.’ Without him, I’d be screwed.
The turning point in the conversation came when he began recalling how he felt when his hit “All The Way Up,” featuring Remy Ma and French Montana, lost to Chance The Rapper at the 2017 Grammy Awards. In doing so, he admitted that losing to Chicago MC was even more disrespectful than his last loss to the Black Eyed Peas.
“We were robbed,” he said. “‘Lean Back,’ I don’t know if you know this, but we lost to the Black Eyed Peas without Fergie. And then we lost ‘All The Way Up’ to Chance The Rapper. That’s the ultimate disrespect. .

After recounting the loss, Fatty admitted it was a regret he couldn’t let go of.
“You know what Jay-Z once said, you know, learn to live with regrets? I can’t stand that guy,” he admitted. “Man, lost to Chance The Rapper. ‘All The Way Up’ — whatever his point is, it’s not that, right?
Fat Joe’s frustrations aren’t limited to one moment. He expressed anger at the Grammys’ history of snubbing him and his collaborators, especially given the circumstances behind their 2016 hit.
“Remy’s out of jail, I’m out of jail,” he said in part. “We threw a magic Frisbee in there. S##t America’s No. 1, you gotta give it, you know… it’s crazy. The Grammys have been with us for a long time.
Fat Joe’s displeasure over his 2017 loss wasn’t the first time he’d experienced Grammy disappointment. The rapper has been nominated multiple times, including hits such as “What’s Luv?” Despite numerous accolades and chart-topping success, winning a Grammy remained out of reach for the Terror Squad legend, fueling his disillusionment with the institution.
