Some truths are universal: We’ll all die one day, you need to pay taxes, and ASAP Rocky and Rihanna probably won’t give up music again. But that’s fine, especially after giving us so many great songs and albums, they’ve all gone on to develop their careers, business ventures, and most fulfilling creative endeavors in the way they see fit. Additionally, they attended the Footwear News Achievement Awards on Wednesday (December 4) in New York City, where the Harlem rapper once again hinted that they might be dropping a collaboration soon. Perhaps this will appear on both artists’ highly anticipated studio albums.
“I think you should wait and see,” A$AP Rocky responded when E! appeared. News asked if he would collaborate with Rihanna on music. “You know, we’re doing something. […] I think [we love working together so much as friends first and then partners] Just because it’s easy, especially with someone who is like-minded or has the same interests as you. It’s easy. Feel more organic or natural.
Rihanna talks about her kids with ASAP Rocky
But A$AP Rocky is missing one important factor that is currently determining how he and his friends navigate their careers: parenthood. Rihanna specifically talked about the priorities between her music career and taking care of her children, and she didn’t hesitate when deciding which one to support. “It had a big impact on her,” she said of how having children affected her creative process. “It’s a new priority. My kids are my first priority. Music second.” With all of this in mind, we don’t know if we would act differently if we woke up in the shoes of either idol.
So maybe we just need to be grateful for what we have and be patiently excited about what they might lose in the future. After all, they have a lot of other important life milestones to achieve before they can really dive into music without stress. A$AP Rocky and Rihanna aren’t married yet…are they? Regardless, if they do release more music, we hope they give us an inside look at their artistic collaboration.
