Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are a legendary duo who created some of hip-hop’s most iconic songs. Overall, their legacy in rap music is cemented. However, that doesn’t mean they’re done making music. In fact, on December 13th, they will release a new album together called Missionary , a spiritual successor to Snoop’s iconic debut album Doggystyle . The hints are pretty clear and fans are excited about what it sounds like.
On Friday, the pair decided to make a rare move to send their fans a happy Thanksgiving weekend. They did this in the form of “Another Part Of Me,” a collaboration with Sting. The feature makes perfect sense when you realize that the production is a remake of The Police’s iconic hit “Message In A Bottle.” The guitar-driven production is complemented by Snoop’s rare auto-tune vocals. While this may polarize some long-time fans, there are some interesting thoughts here.
The album promises to be a victory lap for the West Coast, which has already had a banner year thanks to the emergence of many talented local artists. Plus, you can’t forget Kendrick Lamar, whose song “Not Like Us” was one of the biggest hits of the year. Following the success of GNX, there’s no doubt that Missionary will be the perfect way for Los Angeles to end its legendary year.
Snoop Dogg shows off his singing voice
Life here is heavily armed and full of dangers
Now tell me, what do you want from me?
In the land of the lost and scandal
bright lights, clear days, cold nights
Ride the waves, hold on tight, a day in Los Angeles
