Future’s highly anticipated new mixtape Mixtape Pluto finally has official cover art and a release date of September 20th. However, there is a deeper meaning to this photo. It’s also a big part of hip-hop history.
The deeper meaning behind the cover of Future’s Mixtape Pluto
The home depicted on the cover art is no ordinary home. This is the house of late “Organized Noize” producer Rico Wade’s mother, better known as “The Dungeon.” The basement of a southwest Atlanta home was where ATL icons like OutKast and Goodie Mob recorded their early records, and was actually the birthplace of the Dungeon Family movement. In essence, Hendrix is paying homage to DF.
Additionally, Future is the cousin of Rico Wade, who passed away in April at the age of 52. As such, the cover is also a tribute to the beloved beatmaker. Wade played an important role in Future’s career and was partially responsible for getting Hendrix his first major label deal at Epic.

Dungeon on Airbnb
In 2021, OutKast’s Big Boi purchased the house and put it on Airbnb, allowing fans to rent the historic home. The house includes two bedrooms, a bathroom and of course the famous dungeon.
“André 3000 and I spent countless hours at The Dungeon writing songs and producing beats that would become OutKast’s early albums,” Big Bio said in a statement at the time. “Atlanta taught me the power of community, so to celebrate This Black Music Month, I invite fans to the homeland where Southern hip-hop was born.”
