Ma$e tells a crazy story about Big L framing him for being mugged.
The former bad boy rapper took time to speak out on Wednesday’s (June 26) episode of It Is What It Is about how his fellow Harlem fellows escalated their feud into an attempted robbery.
“Me and L, let’s do it,” Ma$e began. “He started using some of my lyrics, like the different compounds I was using – that’s when you make two [syllables] [rhyme] at the same time. so i checked him […] I was like, ‘Yo, L!
He continued: “L and I started talking and the conversation took a left turn. Next thing I knew, I was in the tunnel and n-gga Fat Joe was walking up to me.
“Joe came up to me and I looked like [pulls confused face]. And Joe goes, ‘Man, I ain’t gonna do nothing to that nigger! That’s Ma$e. This is what you are all doing.
Ma$e later recalled that some time later, he was walking through Harlem with his childhood friend and former NBA star God Shammgod – who was wearing his first Rolex – when they were suddenly approached by an armed robber of striking up a conversation.
“All of a sudden a Spanish n-gga came out and said, ‘Yo, give up, give up! I’m going to kill you two,'” he said. “He picked up the gun [Shammgod]. We play basketball, so we communicate with our eyes, like, “N-gga, I’m going to run.” […] Shamm’s face was like, ‘Ma$e, stop playing.
Ma$e joked that he wasn’t willing to give up his “first Roley” even to save his friends, but he eventually relented and dropped the watch on the ground near the thief, allowing him and Shammgod to escape .
“When the guy was locked up, the n-ggas started calling me: ‘Yo, the n-gga here just took your watch.'” The n-ggas were obsessed with the guy in jail. They beat n-gga and he told us who did it,” said the Harlem World MC.
“He said, ‘Yo, that’s what Big L does.'” I was like, ‘Big L? Wow. This n-gga is over.
