In the Season 4 finale of Book III: Raising Kenan, Patina Miller survived a gun to her head. The trailer for the fifth and final season confirms that she’s alive and ready to fight in the war.
On Tuesday, Starz dropped the video, which resolved the suspense of Kanan pulling the trigger and targeting his own mother, Lark Thomas, because she orchestrated the death of his best friend and girlfriend.
The young ringleader has every reason to pull the trigger, but killing Lark means losing the protection she’s built up in the game, a problem he’s about to learn the hard way.
Season five follows Kenan and Breeze as they make major strides up the South Side standings, and Starz’s synopsis makes it clear that it was here that his ruthlessness became something permanent.
“He knows exactly who he is and who he must become to defeat his enemies,” the network said of the final chapter.
The relationship between mother and son has reached a point of no return, and reconciliation is impossible to bring to the table. The war is coming and it will reshape everything about the drug game in Queens.
The cast includes Joey Bada$$, Wendell Pierce and Tony Danza. The final season will premiere on June 12, with new episodes released every Friday.
