Wiz Khalifa is in athlete mode this year when it comes to releases, dropping his latest album project with Curren$y. The two have previously collaborated on projects such as 2009’s Eternal Album. The latest is titled Roofless Records for Drop Tops: Disc 1, and the project is a smooth ride spanning over 10 tracks, with a production that looks luxurious and laid-back to compliment Wiz’s junkie aesthetic.
The album cover also represents the juxtaposition of luxury and cannabis, depicted through the use of a cannabis leaf through which you can see a dollar bill. This contrasts with the plain black canvas and clear content stickers, creating a solid old-school hip-hop aesthetic with a hint of modernity.
With Wiz’s mixed martial arts practices and regular live streams, coupled with the tenacity of frequently playing music throughout the year, it certainly looks like it’s far away from the lazy junkie stereotype. You can even feel some more “locked in” energy on some of the tracks. Check it out for yourself!
