Over the past four months, Diddy has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The Bad Boy Entertainment founder has been hit with four lawsuits, with three women and one man accusing Diddy of sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment and several other scandalous behaviors. While most of the hip-hop community has remained silent on the matter, 50 Cent has been calling on Puff to stop his actions.
Since Cassie sued Diddy last November, Fif has been on Diddy’s helmet, calling out Puff on social media and at shows. The more lawsuits filed, the tougher Fife became on Puff. The Queens, New York, rapper doesn’t just relegate his disdain for bloat to a joke. He wanted to crush the music executive. 50 has even hinted multiple times that he’s working on a documentary about Diddy’s misdeeds called Did Diddy Do It? 》
Why is 50 Cent the only rapper to publicly call out Diddy?
The answer is layered. One might think it would be easy to place Diddy among other victims of the Me Too movement, such as R. Kelly and Bill Cosby, both of whom have been convicted of sex crimes. However, for some people, it’s not that simple.
First, as of this writing, Diddy has not yet been convicted or even charged with a crime. All we have to go on is accusations from multiple individuals, however damning those accusations are. Some felt they were not qualified to comment until he was held legally accountable.
Puff is also one of the most powerful people in the music industry. With this power comes fear. Some artists may be afraid to speak out for fear of being ostracized, losing opportunities, or being called a hater. Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons has faced nearly 20 sexual assault lawsuits since 2018, and despite reportedly living in exile in Bali to escape legal persecution, he remains a beloved figure to many in the hip-hop community.
Then, some rappers have skeletons in their closets and also want to avoid being exposed. Producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones named Meek Mill and Yung Miami in his latest lawsuit against Diddy in February. Yung Miami, who dated Diddy, was even accused of delivering “pink cocaine” to Puff and participating in illegal activities.
Who joined 50 Cent?
No one in the rap world has publicly criticized Diddy like 50 Cent, but some have spoken out. Former Bad Boy artist Mark Curry has repeatedly commented on Diddy’s accusations, arguing that Diddy was fully capable of the things he’s been accused of doing. Controversial hip-hop anchor DJ Akademiks isn’t shutting up. Comedian Carter Williams also commented on Puff’s accusations on the Club Shay Shay podcast that went viral in January.
Court of public opinion and civil lawsuits aside, Diddy appears to be in some serious trouble with the law after his homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided by the Department of Homeland Security on Monday (March 25), reportedly in connection with sex acts question. Trafficking Investigations. Whether or not the rapper speaks out against him, there may be no way out.
