A Texas woman wanted to try a new gym with a free seven-day pass. Unless she showed up, she learned management had no intention of keeping that promise.
TikTok creator Lez (@lez.labella) posted a video on November 29 about the situation. “Let’s play a game of ‘make sense,'” she says at the beginning of the video.
Lez explained that she woke up that morning wanting to work out, but she wasn’t interested in any of the current gym options. “Don’t want to go to Crunch Fitness,” she said. “Feeding really tired of Crunch Fitness. Checked out a gym about 25-30 minutes away from me. Decided to check out EOS [Fitness]. Go online and sign up for a free 7-day pass. Get dressed and drive 30 minutes to the gym. “

When she entered the gym, Lez immediately went to reception to let them know about her seven-day pass. The front desk agent told her someone from the sales team would go over membership options with her, which she knew was part of the free seven-day pass experience.
But the wait was longer than she imagined. “Then it dawned on me,” she said. “I’ve already done two Jeezy songs. Why am I still sitting here?”
Eventually, she said, a young man approached her, detailed her membership options and told her about a Black Friday deal for just $1 before January. Leitz was impressed with the facility and hoped to take advantage of the deal before completing a seven-day trial period.
“He said, ‘Well, here’s the thing about the seven-day pass. We’re not honoring it,'” Leitz recalled. “I said, ‘Wait, run it back?'”

According to Lez, the sales rep doubled down and said a one-day pass would cost $20. “I said, ‘I was going to buy a membership, but this looks really fishy to me. It doesn’t say that on your website. It doesn’t say that in the email. And then I get here today and you tell me I drove 30 minutes to get here and tell me that you’re not going to honor a seven-day pass and you’re going to force me to become a member?'”
Lez understood that a successful Black Friday deal didn’t necessarily come with financial risk, but at the time, it was more of a matter of principle. “But they were so sketchy that I just didn’t want to go to the gym anymore,” she said. “So of course I got in the car and, as a black woman, I’m going to look into it. This is what the email said. There was nothing in it [expletive] Could it be that they don’t honor seven-day passes now? “

Leitz ended the video by asking for gym recommendations in the Houston area. In the comments section, viewers expressed their opinions on her story.
“It’s time to complain to the company,” one viewer wrote.
“Why is the gym so hard?” a second person asked. “It’s hard to sign up. It’s hard to cancel. What’s their problem?”
“The best way to get them into big trouble is to call the state attorney general and file a complaint,” a third viewer suggested. “They don’t mess around with this kind of thing.”
The U.S. government requires businesses to outline all the fine print of a free trial before customers sign up. So that means Leitz may actually have a valid complaint here.
