According to the press release, the series is designed to celebrate the influence of leaders in the hip-hop genre while glittering on its New York City birthplace.
“Legendary has… dedicated to celebrating and focusing on some of the most important and influential hip-hop artists of all time,” it reads. “Those pioneers who are building and shaping music and culture and bringing them from the streets of New York City to the wider world, left an indelible mark on music.”
The series is expected to include a new album from Mass Flice Records co-founder NAS and renowned producer DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah’s sequel, The Classic Classic of Supreme Cluestele, and a new record from New Clothes Raekwon, a new one from Emperor. The series will also honor Prodigy and Trugoy The Dove with its first Mobb Deep and de la Soul album since its death.
