Capital Prep, the Harlem charter school where Diddy attended, is severing ties with the embattled music mogul, with parents, students and former employees calling the school a disaster.
Diddy’s Harlem School Reportedly a Disaster
On Friday (March 15), The Cut published a wide-ranging report detailing the disaster and dysfunction at Capital Prep, the Harlem charter school Dee Dee opened in 2016. Fourteen people, including students, parents and former employees, described the school, located in East Harlem, New York, one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods, as characterized by frequent violence and high turnover rates. Not to mention, Diddy allegedly had almost no connection to the school other than the occasional photo op.
One parent said: “He should be an inspiration to those kids, he comes from the hood you might think – but he’s not.”
The school reportedly did not have full teaching staff throughout its tenure and students sometimes went months without learning lessons. Instead, they were found hanging out in the lunch room. Parents claim they were not notified of bed bug outbreaks and say police are regularly called to investigate students who violate the school’s uniform policy.
Capital Prep currently serves 500 students in grades 6 through 12, the majority of whom are black and from low-income families.
XXL has reached out to Diddy’s team for comment.

Diddy was spotted and out and about for the first time since the lawsuit
The music mogul’s latest bad press comes after Diddy was spotted out in public with his sons Justin and Christian on Sunday (March 6). Diddy was caught on video by paparazzi leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles. In the video, Puff is seen smiling as he leaves the restaurant with his sons. The group entered a waiting SUV, but Didi remained silent as photographers took flash photos.
The Bad Boy Entertainment founder is currently facing multiple lawsuits alleging abuse and sexual assault.
