Teyana Taylor turned heads at Vogue World 2025 in Los Angeles on Saturday night (October 25), taking to the runway at Paramount Studios in a Black Panther-inspired outfit that paid homage to Marvel’s Wakandan warrior and the art of costume designer Ruth E. Carter.

The versatile actress performs alongside Danai Gurira in the show’s sixth act, which highlights Afrofuturism and honors Carter’s award-winning work in film.

The pair wore matching red Dora Milaje suits, originally crafted by Carter for 2018’s Black Panther, featuring silver details and structured armor elements that evoke power and elegance.

The Dora Milaje is known as the elite Royal Guard in the Marvel Universe, symbolizing power and loyalty, which made the costume choice make sense for both performers.

Gurira played Okoye in the original film, while Taylor embodied the warrior spirit through fashion.

Angela Bassett also made an appearance, walking the same runway in a gorgeous purple gown Carter designed for Queen Raymonda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

This is Taylor’s second appearance in Vogue World, after she wowed in Paris last year wearing a metallic chainmail look by Rabanne.

Her latest appearance comes as she prepares to star in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series All’s Fair, further expanding her already diverse entertainment resume.

For Gurira, the event marked her debut in the world of Vogue, and she made it meaningful. Critics hailed the pair’s appearance as a “blockbuster” that blended superhero imagery with high fashion.

Carter’s influence was at the heart of the night. The Oscar-winner’s work has shaped the visual narrative style in films such as “Butterfly,” “Malcolm X” and “The Sinner,” and her designs continue to resonate beyond the screen.

As seen in Saturday’s show, her creations remain timeless and culturally influential.
