Rashida Jones has shared precious memories of her late father, music legend Quincy Jones, following his death at 91.
On Thursday (November 7), the actress and filmmaker paid tribute to the legendary songwriter who produced “Thriller” for Michael Jackson and collaborated with many other legendary artists, from Ray Charles to Frank Sheen Everyone in Natra.
She shared a throwback photo of herself as a child with her father, along with a heartfelt message.
“My father has been nocturnal his entire adult life,” she explains. “He’d been a part of ‘Jazz Time’ since high school and never looked back. As a kid, I would wake up in the middle of the night looking for him. No doubt he would be composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music) somewhere in the house. He would never send me back to bed, smiling and holding me in his arms.
“To me, there was no safer place in the world,” Rashida recalled.
Classify Quincy Jones as a “giant.” an icon. “Culture shifter” and “genius,” Rashida continued.
“His music (and all of his work) was a conduit for his love. He was love,” she added. “He made everyone he met feel loved and seen. That’s his legacy.
Rashida concluded her tribute to Quincy Jones, “I was blessed to experience this love up close. I will miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Dad, it was an honor to be your daughter.” Your love exists forever.
